I want to know it - perhaps I have in my desire to befrend you layed my self open to Mr Farwell but I think not. If he commences action against me I shall have to use such means as are with in my reach for self defence

I [rearly?] hope this matter may be closed in some way and leave the friendly relations existing between you and me undisturbed. I want to know it - perhaps I have in my desire to befrend you layed my self open to Mr Farwell but I think not. I [rearly?] hope this matter may be closed in some way and leave the friendly relations existing between you and me undisturbed.
