Dear Sir:

I am directed by His Excellency Governor Yates to acknowledge receipt of your letter suggesting propriety of monthly payment being made to 100 Daymen. and to state that he has made request to War Department to effect the object, but has little hope of its adoption, as it would be making a distinction between troops mustered for different periods of service which would be cause of complaint among those who are paid only abt once in six months upon regulation & promise to pay once in two months
