Dear Col. I have received your letter relative to Col S. D. Atkins 92nd Ills. Vols and have sent earnest request and recommendations for his promotion to rank of Brigadier General of Vols and I sincerely hope early appointment may be made. I have asked that his case may be considered & acted upon as early as possible. I believe there are none more worthy than he for increased rank.
