Dear Governor
I learn from friend George E. Stanton, this morning that he desires to be Commissioned as bearer of dispatches to Great Britain and France and is anxious to present to Secy Seward strong home recommendation. Will you oblige me and your many friends here, by giving him a Letter, that they Secy will understand comes from the representative of the great state of Illinois.= We can all endorse him and your Letter will bring the Commission.
