Dear Sir,
Permit me to say that Dr R. Newman herein recommended to you as Steward for the Hospital of this Regiment, is a son of Rev. Windgate Newman of Franklin Ill.
And as his father is a Democrat in politics, I think this appointment would have a tendency to exonerate from any thing like partizan favoriteism -
Your family are well & things move off pleasantly at Camp Duncan.
