I am obliged to go to Washington tonight & regret that I cannot see you

I have one request to make and that is that Dr Blake Whorry you know to be your true friend be appointed Surgeon of one of the Illinois Regts for the three years service I know him to be a highly accomplished physician and a man of ability

By doing this you will oblige many of yr true friends & now [illegible] them
