Jack L. Maddux, president and founder of Maddux Air Lines, Inc., stands in front of a Ford Trimotor, an aircraft that became the mainstay of the commercial airline industry in the late 1920s. Founded in 1927, Maddux Air Lines began by offering passenger flights between Los Angeles and San Diego, California. The company later expanded its flights to Phoenix, Arizona, before merging with Transcontinental Air Transport (T-A-T) in 1929.
