Description
Henry Dodge, shown here in an American officer's uniform of the 1820s or 1830s, served in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, and as the first governor of the Territory of Wisconsin from 1836-1841. A Democrat, Dodge served as Wisconsin territorial delegate to Congress, 1841-1845, and was elected one of Wisconsin's first two federal senators in 1848. He served in the U.S. Senate until 1857. Dodge died in Iowa in 1867.
