From the papers presented by Messrs Thos Ruggles & B J. Welch Committee on part of citizens of Montebello township (Hancock Co) I infer that some of the men belonging & having enlisted from that township have been erroneously credited to Carthage township.

If the error cannot be corrected by You, You will oblige me if consistent by issuing an order staying he draft in Montebello township until instructions can be received from Washington. As Genl. Fuller is in possession of all the facts I desire to await his return (expected Sunday

night or Monday morning) before application is made --
