Dear Sir
Your esteemed favor of 29th ult was received and forwarded to Gov'r Yates at New York. It is the Governors intention to appoint just such a man as you represent your brother to be.
I would suggest that if he would accept the appointment you forward such testimonials as you can procure in regard to character and qualifications.
