Dear Sir Martin W. Chittenden, who has been a resident of our county for eight years last past, has made his application to the war department of the General government for an appointment in the Army as pay master. Mr. Chittenden is a gentleman who is not only honest, but, as we think, competent to fill that post in the Army: we therefore respectfully solicit your influence in his behalf to secure him that position.
