Sir: I would respectfully recommend and urgently request the appointment of H Sawver a resident of Freeport Ills and formerly Adjutant 92d Ills Vols to the office of Capt & Asst Adjutant General.
He has received a through Military education, a graduate of Military Institute at Nashville [illegible] is a most intelligent and competent man and has acquitted himself with highest credit in the Army.
recommended by Brig Genl Baird and others.
I sincerely hope you will be able at an early day to gratify his desire to reenter the service by giving him the position asked for
