Under the late call of the Government for 13 Infantry Regiments each congressional district is entitled to a Regiment. Morgan County (there being 11 counties) is entitled to not more than two perhaps only one company. Your tender on the books of the Adj't Genl. I believe, is among the first and your company will be accepted on the condition imposed on the other companies, that you report yourself at Clear Lake. Sangamon County within ten days. You will answer immediately and a failure to answer early will be regarded as evidence that you will not be ready." and some other company designated
