Dear sir, the Union League of this place wish to organize as a company for drill in order that they may be prepared for self defence if it should so happen that their services would be needed in town county or state & requested me to ask your excellency if you could furnish them with arms for that purpose. wish you to reply at your earliest convenience. direct your answer to me.
