Sir: There are many sick and wounded soldiers in the hospitals in this State who have been in different hospitals for several months-and who actually require leave of absence to improve health- The present stringent orders of the Medical Department prevents medical directors from granting furloughs. I have respectfully to request that orders may arrive to surgeons in charge of hospitals to furlough for a limited period a reasonable percentage of cases from each hospital.
The Medical Director and District Commander
of this State are without orders on this subject.
