Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letter requesting assistance in case of Wm & Alva Watkins whom you say are arrested as deserters and now held in confinement at Louisville Kentucky. I will take great pleasure in aiding their release if you will give me the letter of Co & Number of regiment to which they belonged in three months service and also, if possible to give it, the company and regiment to which it is alleged they now belong. Please answer soon.
