My Dear Madam:
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter in behalf of Rev. Mr Kenyon. To secure position of Army Chaplain it is necessary that the company officers of a regt elect and the Colonel recommend and that the person thus presented have a certificate from at least five accredited ministers of some denomination certify that the applicant is a regularly ordained minister of good standing &c & recommend him for an Army Chaplain. With such presentation I could & would most cheerfully confer commission upon Mr K.
