General:
The bearer Mr. S H. [illegible] accompanied by Mr. J. G. [illegible] desires to go to visit some of the Illinois regiments in Tennessee and Mississippi. They are both loyal and respectable citizens of this State and I would request you to afford them such facilities as they may require to accomplish their purpose.
