Application has been made to me for the discharge of John I White private Co H 32'd Regt Ills Vol. I have the honor to enclose you herewith a petition from the prominent citizens of jacksonville, stating that he is unfit for military duty, and that he is the only means of support to his fathers family. I would request you if consistent with the interests of the service, to assist him in obtaining his discharge.
