Surgeon in Charge U.S Hospital Benton Barracks Mo
Sir:
The bearer Mr. C. D. Trimble desires to procure the discharge of his step brother James B Dakin who is confined in your hospital.
If Mr Dakin is a fit subject for discharge I would request you to examine him as soon as possible and assist him in obtaining his papers without unnecessary delay. Should you find him fit for further duty, I would request you to grant him a furlough or assist him in obtaining one, until he has regained his health, provided this is consistent with your orders.
