The bearer

Mrs Pierce visits you on

account of her husband who

is a prisoner at Alton Ill

I have made strict

inquiry with regard to his

character & can learn nothing

against the man in this place

but on the contrary, all speak

well of him who know him, so

far as I can learn.

Mrs Pierce I believe to be an

honest & respectable woman

having the care of two small

children. I you can do any thing

consistant with your Duty for this

family I hope you will & I am sure

you will Respectfully &c
