My dear Governor
Your favor of the 3d inclosing a copy of E.H. Castles communication is received.
That he may have heard such stuff is very probable but there are no grounds for it
No such body of men as he speaks of has arms. Few if any but truly loyal men are in the militia. Missouri troops have been distinguished for fighting qualities in this war
