His Excellency Richard Yates,

Dear Sir,

There is to be a mass meeting during the day and evening of the 3rd of November at Chicago. The Lincoln & Oglesby Club of this city instruct me to extend to you a very urgent invitation that you be present to speak and that you signify your acceptance as early as possible. We have written you sevral invitations but (probably on account of your labors and absence from home) have received no answer to any one. Hoping to hear from you accepting our invitation.
