Dear Sir

I learn that my young friend, Mr. Geo. R. Miller who is now a member of Capt Jenks Co Volunteers at Camp Butler, wishes an appointment in the Regiment to which he is attached as Quarter Master or Commissary.

Mr Miller is a young man of good business qualifications and of undoubted integrity, and in my opinion would fill a post in either of those Departments with ability I would be highly gratified if you can give the appointment he wishes
