Dear Sir: I would be much pleased if you would appoint John G. Fonda now of 2nd. Ills. Cavalry to the position of Major of that Regiment. Mr. Fonda is an excellent Cavalry officer has seen service in Mexico and is in every respect a man who will do efficient service If possible he should receive such appointment.
