I inclose a letter from Col J F Farnsworth indorsed by M O Higgins from which you will see that I am an applicant for the post of Quartermaster of the Camp at this point. Col. Tucker informed me today that you would probably start for Washington on Monday & hence I have been unable to forward in time such recommendations as I can obtain - I will send you in a few days letters from Gen Pope Col White & other Military gentlemen, as well as from Members of the Defense Committee of this City & in the meantime beg to be regarded, as a candidate for the position
