Governor of Illinois.
Dear Sir
Maj. F. Wilson apprises me that he is an applicant for Quartermaster in the BlackHawk Regiment. I knew him by daily and personal intimacy from 1839 to 1850 & ever since by reputation. He is a good man and will discharge the duties of that or any other office to the best of his ability
