Dear Yates
I recd a letter yesterday from my wifs Brother who is a prisoner of war at Rockisland Ills he writes me that he has served out his Term of Enlist to the Confedrate Government and he now wishes to take the oath of Alligiance to the U. S. Government and come and stay with me untill the war is over (illegible) what is the proper course for me to pursue to assist him in accomplishing his desire he (illegible) me that they are not at this time administering the oath to any of the Prisoners at that Post if you are not fully (illegible) as to the shortest & surest course for me to pursue please advise with Adutant Gen (Fulter?) and write me by return mail Yours truly WG Green
