Dr Rooskoten,
Dear Sir,
I just arrived at Peoria and found you had left for Springfield I suppose to tender your resignation as I see by the paper you have been appointed "Brigade Surgeon"
Could your kindness procure me a permit for examination, or would you be so good as to send me an interduction to the other examiners, as you know me for some time as a practicing Physician & Surgeon in this City & County
