This cartoon parodies the number of speeches Democratic presidential nominee William Jennings Bryan made during his November 1, 1900, visit to Chicago. Chairman of the 1900 Democratic National Convention, Arkansas Senator James K. Jones, hurries William J. Bryan to the first of seven speeches given within a 33 minute time period.  Bryan, the forty-first United States Secretary of State was the Democrat's presidential nominee in 1896, 1900, and 1908.
