My dear Sir

1st Lieut J. A. Hynes who will deliver this letter to you, belongs to (Mulligan's 23rd Mo regiment, but was absent on duty when his Regt was captured at Lexington.

Lt. H is on his way to join his regt now in process of reorganization & I would be obliged to you if you will facilitate as far as possible Lt H's views.

He has served with the Division under my command since October last, & is a most worthy & respectable officer
