Richard Yates Governor of the State of Illinois
Respected Sir:
Feeling it to be my duty to enlist in the Reasent war and wishing to Enlist in one of the old Regiments I desire a Pass that I may reach Jackson Tenn. where the 17 Reg Ill Vol is Stationed as I am acquainted with Officers and Privates of Co. H. of Said Reg Please foreward immediately if it meets with your approbation
