Captain A. Kovats commander of Company F 24th Reg Ills Vols was known & considered by me as a very efficient officer & a gentleman, during Seven months of my command of that regmt 8th Brigade. He participated in several engagements with the enemies & always behaved bravely. He was wounded on Battle Creek in a skirmish with the rebels. In my opinion he is entitled to be promoted.
