Dr Sir,

Desiring to gratify a patriotic man and a kind father, I would be glad to have you order the transfer of Ethelbert L. Kalb from the 33d Illinois Regiment to the 114th Illinois Regiment of Volunteers. Both Colonels give their consent to the transfer, and it would gratify a patriotic and loyal family, as well as myself to have the transfer made.
