Dear sir
Your letter duly reached me.
If your oldest son is a Lieut, in a Regiment, I will appoint him as an aid, and be very glad to do so. I recollect him as a fine looking intelligent boy. Now he is a man. It may happen that I shall be compelled to expose him but I have no doubt that he is brave.
Write to me where he is and I will get him detailed.
