To His Excellency Richard Yates, Governor of Illinois and Comander in Chief.
Sir:
The Governor of Missouri referring to the Government the demanded volunteers, and a good many young men being here, anxious to tender their services to the the government of the united states, I respectfully inquire, whether you would accept the services from me and other young men, when coming to Springfield, and whether they would there get equipment, board and pay.
