As I served in the 1st Ills Regt as Capt of Chicago Company in Mexico for One Year After which by Request of Genl Wool and other officers was appointed in the U.S. Army as Asst Qr Master with Captains Rank for Remainder of the War. I hereby tender you my Service as Field Officer to any department needed and would refer you to any of the Officers or men of either the 1st or 2nd Ills Regts who were at Buena Vista or the War Dept at Washington.
