I am in receipt of your letter of 30th Sept. requesting intercession in behalf of your friend Henry Scharp, a confereddorate prisoner at Ft Delaware-Have this day written the Commissary General of Prisoners to release him upon his oath of allegiance-and hope you will soon see him restored a useful member of this free Republic and as a resident of Illinois a good missionary against [illegible] or their abetting.
